堪薩斯皇家11日（台北時間）與白襪隊打完9局，以1比1平手，進入延長賽，王建民在11局上登板出賽。
白襪在3局上轟陽春砲得1分，皇家在8局下靠著2支二壘安打攻得1分扳平。
皇家先發投手甘迺迪（Ian Kennedy）投6.1局失1分，佛萊(Brian Flynn)投0.1局被1支安打，彼得（Peter Moylan）後援0.1局飆三振化解。楊恩(Chris Young)及赫雷拉（Kelvin Herrera）各投1局未失分。
王建民近15天只有出賽1場，7月27日上場之後，休息7天在8月4日對光芒中繼1局，在6局下無人出局一、二壘有人上來，被3支安打，其中1支全壘打，失3分有2分責失。
